This password workspace on Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention serves as the online home for members of the UN System's Peacebuilding Community of Practice and Conflict Prevention Community of Practice. Through this workspace, CoP members can access UN system-wide resources through an easily searchable online library, read the latest news on peacebuilding and conflict prevention, connect to other community members through a “Who’s Who” database, and search a roster of experts and learn about other headquarters based resource persons. Currently in its pilot phase, this workspace receives support from UNDP’s Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery and is designed in collaboration with UNDESA’s Peacebuilding Portal.
What is the Peacebuilding Community of Practice?
Building on the important contributions that communities of practice have made within UN departments and agencies, and as part of the UN Peacebuilding Support Office’s convening role for the UN system, the Peacebuilding Community of Practice (PBCoP) is the first UN-wide community for peacebuilding practitioners. With leadership from field-based staff and an inter-agency management committee, the PBCoP is an integral part of the broader UN knowledge management and coordination strategy for peacebuilding.
The Peacebuilding Community of Practice is a diverse community of UN practitioners and experts from around the world and across most UN agencies and departments. UN System staff interested in joining the network can email pb-cop@groups.un-network.org for more information.
What is the Conflict Prevention CoP?
Responding to recommendations by the Peace and Development Advisers and other UN conflict prevention practitioners, the Conflict Prevention Community of Practice will facilitate interaction, support, coaching, mentoring, learning and sharing between UN Peace and Development Advisers and others in country-specific working or core groups of the UN Interagency Framework Team for Coordination on Preventive Action (FT). Managed by the Expert Reference Group of the FT, the Conflict Prevention CoP will be supported by an email discussion network, as well as this online workspace.
