In fulfilment of the UN's commitment to integrate gender perspectives into its work, and in partnership with UNIFEM and the Division for Advancement of Women, DESA, the Portal offers information on gender/ peacebuilding related NGO´s in Africa.

In fulfilment of the UN's commitment to integrate the issue of education within the realm of conflict management and peacebuilding into its work, and in the spirit of UN agency and family teamwork, the Portal, in partnership with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) offers information on NGOs working on the issue of education in peacebuilding.

The Peacebuilding Portal is a gateway for valuable information on organizations working on conflict management and peacebuilding. This information has been compiled in collaboration from several sub-regional peacebuilding NGO networks in East, West and southern African and with the assistance of the UN Department of Political Affairs (DPA), and the UN Department of Peacekeeping (DPKO) and UNDP.
It is hoped that this information will be useful to those in government, civil society, and regional and international organizations in their efforts to identify and strengthen local actors involved in conflict prevention and peacebuilding.
